Treatment Planning for Minimally Invasive Therapies


The focus of my work has been the development of a software platform for the treatment planning of minimally invasive energy-based therapies. The platform can currently be used to develop treatment plans for:


Currently, work is being done to validate the treatment planning simulations.


Microwave thermal therapy validation experiments are being performed in tissue-equivalent phantoms (polyacrylamide – PAG). There have been several side-trips on the road to validating the microwave heating simulations, including:


The laser thermal therapy simulations are being validated against experiments in tissue-equivalent phantom materials and ex-vivo bovine liver. Some of the steps required to validate these simulations are:
